Shimla or simla was the summer capital of the erstwhile British Raj in India and now is the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh . Shimla derives its name from the world Shyamala, another name of Goddess Kali after whom the city was named. Shimla is a  popular tourist destination and it is often called  as the Queen of Hill Stations . Shimla is localed at the height of 2,130 metres (6,988 ft), Shimla in nutshell we can say, pine forests and apple orchards, crisp, clean air and breathtaking views. Shimla is a tourist paradise through out the year. The weather of Shimla is pleasant round the year thus experiencing a great influx of tourists from all around the world. Shimla was once part of the Nepalese kingdom. The British ‘discovered’ it in 1819.

The toy train that started in 1903 from Kalka to Shimla made the hill station more popular and easily accessible. The entire Shimla district has a number of small streams and springs and is a delightful place for nature lovers.
